2011 | 12 | 12 Employees of the Press Agency Krampitz get an update at TÜV Rheinland

The Technical Inspection Agency TÜV Rheinland is one of the leading test centres worldwide that inspects and certifies photovoltaic modules and components. On 9 December four employees of the Press Agency Krampitz were able to catch up on the centre’s testing procedures during an exclusive guided tour through the laboratories in Cologne.

Using different tests, the agency examines the reliability, long-life and safety of the solar modules. For example, the modules are exposed to extreme temperatures, strong wind loads and very high humidity in order to test their load-bearing capabilities. Situations such as hail and fire are also simulated. In addition, the employees of TÜV Rheinland inspect the workmanship of the modules, in order to test the risk for electric shocks, among others. TÜV Rheinland can look back on 30 years of experience in the photovoltaic sector and is represented worldwide with seven test laboratories.
